Rapid developments – The Russians have begun the operation to capture the city of Kherson

The liberation of the city of Kherson has already begun, according to the regional governor Vladimir Saldo, who confirmed that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation control the industrial zone of the city on the western bank of the Dnieper River, as well as summer villages on the islands along the river’s estuary toward the Black Sea.
“Part of Kherson is also located on the left bank, and we control it.
Yes, it is the industrial zone, but it is territory of Kherson and it is under the control of our armed forces,” stated Saldo in his remarks to TASS.
At the same time, all the summer villages on the islands around Kherson up to the river estuary are now under Russian control, a fact which—as he noted—allows one to speak of the beginning of the city’s liberation process.
The withdrawal of Russian forces from the right bank of the Dnieper took place in November 2022, following an order by then Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and a proposal by the then commander of Russian forces in the region, Sergei Surovikin.
As Surovikin had stated, the decision was made due to the risk of flooding and entrapment of Russian units in the event of the possible destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
