The provocative Kurti is “finished” – Serbophobia no longer saves the Kosovo regime
Last Sunday, 26/10, the political scene in Kosovo experienced one of its most tense moments of the last decade. The Pristina Parliament, tired of the extreme Serbophobic policies and geopolitical tightroping of Albin Kurti, finally turned its back on the man who turned the "vision" of Self-Determination into a tool of division. The technically-mandated prime minister — and until recently, the dominant force in the local political scene — saw his structure collapse within the very parliament that once hailed him. No party wished to align with Vetëvendosje! any longer, the left-wing pan-Albanian entity that dissolved bridges of cooperation throughout the region. Consequently, 56 MPs voted in favour of the bill, 52 against, and four abstained, raising the total number of elected representatives present to 113 out of 120. According to local rules, a proposal requires 61 votes to pass.

But this, as expected, did not happen, as the scandalous left-wing, pan-Albanian party "Self-Determination" managed to spoil relations with all political forces in the region, with the possible exception of parties representing very small ethnic minorities, such as the "Egyptians" (a group of Kosovo Roma who believe they migrated to the Balkans from the exotic land of the pyramids). Now, according to the constitution of Kosovo, the incumbent president must appoint a new prime minister within ten days. The current president, Vjosa Osmani, previously an ardent supporter of Kurti, even breaking ties with her own nationalist-intellectual party, the Democratic League of Kosovo, in 2021 for his sake, now the old Doni is back on top, and Kurti, with his extreme hatred for Serbia, once again openly hinders his efforts to turn the Balkans into a strong rear guard for the global geopolitical confrontation with the East.

The US Deep State
And now, the removal of the much-maligned leader of Self-Determination is back on the agenda abroad. This is why the Americans gathered all opposition executives at their embassy in Pristina ahead of the local elections. Meanwhile, Osmani is fully aware of the wind's direction, but it is still difficult to predict its course — the maniacal Albin continues to be supported by the American deep state, which opposes Trump, as well as by the EU and the British elites. Therefore, it is difficult to say whom the lady will propose for president, but if even this candidate fails to approve his government in parliament, the region faces repeat elections. Let there be poverty and population outflow, as long as there are no Serbs.
New elections - The day after
New elections could prove to be a real disaster for Self-Determination, as it fared poorly in the local elections as well: its main opponents — the aforementioned LDK and the Democratic Party of Kosovo, founded by the field commanders of the terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) — both surpassed it in the number of municipalities won. Furthermore, at the start of the vote count, the difference was much more apparent than it is now, but Kurti, as always, was then reinforced by the diaspora votes (after data processing from abroad: for example, the Self-Determination candidate for mayor of the capital Pristina abruptly rose from third place to second, almost catching the leader). These are ultra-patriots living abroad who do not see the economic and social deadlock into which the "Self-Determination" party has led the region, but fervently believe its sweet words about a Greater Albania. Therefore, the runoff is scheduled for November 9.

And when we talk about economic and social deadlock, it is not an emotional assessment of the Kurti cabinet's performance, or rather, inaction. There are serious statistics. According to Eurostat, in the last five years, 12% of the population, or more than 200,000 residents, have left Kosovo. And last year alone, 39,000 Kosovars applied for residence permits in European Union countries, mainly Germany. Experts believe that the emigration from the province is due to chronic unemployment, low wages, poor living conditions, and lack of prospects for young people. In other words, the "Self-Determiners" simply ignored the economy and social issues. They had more pressing matters — to force the remaining Serbs to leave Kosovo.
In turn, Igor Simic, one of the leaders of the Serb List, the largest Serbian party in Kosovo that is loyal to the ruling Vucic regime in Serbia, reacting to Kurti's proposals regarding the government's composition, stated clearly: the two previous cabinets he led made hundreds of decisions contrary to the interests of the Serbian people, and none benefited the Albanian people. And, as they say, there is nothing more to say.

A vicious chronicle of hate
During his four years in power, Kurti managed to commit Serbophobic acts: he banned Serbian license plates in the province, banned the entry of Serbian food and medicine, closed the branches of Serbian government services in Kosovo, social services, and even the post office, replaced Cyrillic signs and license plates with Latin ones, and his "Oprichniks" removed Serbian tricolour symbols in the enclaves, painted over murals of Serbian heroes, and arrested individuals, including teenagers, for wearing Serbian symbols on their clothes. A new round of witch hunts began: veterans of the Yugoslav Ministry of Internal Affairs and the armed forces began to be arrested and imprisoned, accused of "war crimes." And, of course, his regime continued to ignore the clause of the 2013 Brussels Agreements on the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities in Kosovo, something his predecessors had done with equal success. The Serbian community responded to this unprecedented pressure by withdrawing its forces from all Kosovo authorities in November 2022 and ignoring the local elections the following year, 2023. This, as it turned out, was quite accurate for Kurti and his clique: despite the fact that turnout in the Serbian enclaves was only 3.5%, the "majority" of votes there elected new Albanian mayors or collaborators working for the separatist authorities, who continued to exert pressure on the Serbian community with renewed vigour. Repatriates from Serbia continued to be prevented from returning to their homeland in every possible way. Meanwhile, multi-story residences for Albanians began to be constructed in Serbian enclaves. The Pristina "police" finally settled in Serbian communities – previously, these functions were performed by Serbian police officers, and in their place by visiting Albanian "Don Juans," who began to pursue Serbian girls and women in cars. In other words, a deliberately hostile environment was created so that Serbs, feeling unwelcome, would start leaving Kosovo themselves. Even the position of Vice-President of the Kosovo Parliament, intended for the Serbian community, was awarded not to a representative of the "Serb List," but to a long-time collaborator and leader of a similar Serbian party, "For Freedom, Justice, and Survival," Racic.
