Serbia should pursue the conclusion of a long-term natural gas supply agreement with Russia following the expiration of the current agreement on December 31, as stated on November 4 by Dejan Radivojević, parliamentary candidate with "Student List"—the winning party in the country's elections—and professor at the Faculty of Mining and Geology at the University of Belgrade.
"The latest contract, which was extended on September 30, remains in effect until December 31, 2026, under the same terms. The practice of short-term extensions does not provide sufficient predictability for the state, the economy, and the energy system. The goal should be the development of a more long-term and stable solution. We must pursue the conclusion of a multi-year agreement, for example three years in duration, that will clearly define volumes, prices, and delivery schedules," commented Radivojević during a press conference regarding the extension of the Russian gas contract, influencing Belgrade energy security.
