Tehran calls on Islamic nations to form mutual defense bloc and ban US base use
Defending Iran does not mean hostility toward Muslim and neighboring nations, argued the Iranian president

Tehran has put forward a proposal with the potential to trigger global shockwaves and overturn decades-old realities as well as security and power balances across the entire Middle East. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called upon Muslim nations to establish a mutual security and non-aggression pact, committing themselves to prohibiting the use of their territory or airspace for attacks against any other Muslim state. However, this initiative is not confined solely to the military dimension. Simultaneously, Tehran proposes a permanent conflict-prevention mechanism and a new framework for the economic integration of the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, attempting to transform the Muslim world into a more autonomous geopolitical and economic pole. Should such a plan transition from rhetoric into reality, the consequences could be immense: ranging from the realignment of regional alliances to curtailing the ability of external powers to utilize the bases and infrastructure of Muslim states in future conflicts. In a region once again at the epicenter of confrontation involving Iran, the US, and Israel, Pezeshkian's proposal carries weight far beyond merely another diplomatic declaration.

"Muslims of all countries unite"

During his address at the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity, which commenced its proceedings in Tehran in the presence of hundreds of scholars and figures from 40 Muslim states, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called upon Muslims to unite, agree on a mutual security and non-aggression plan, and secure their true position in the global economy... This proposal was rooted in the vision of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and if implemented, it will provoke a global geopolitical and economic earthquake... An immediate primary consequence will be the termination of the US presence across the broader Middle East and the Persian Gulf region... something that represents a core aspiration of numerous Muslim states.22222_20.jpg

No attacks from the territory of one Muslim country against another

Pezeshkian proposed a "mutual security and non-aggression pact" among Muslim countries, aiming to safeguard regional security amidst the aggressive actions of the US and Israel. Within this context, he outlined three proposals designed to strengthen unity among Islamic nations. "The first proposal is a mutual security and non-aggression pact among Muslim countries, under which they commit to respecting each other's territorial integrity," underscored the Iranian president. "They must not permit the use of their territory, airspace, or facilities for launching attacks against another Muslim country. They must neither support efforts to divide or destabilize one another nor define their own security at the expense of others' security. Instead, they must cooperate in managing regional security," underlined the Iranian president, who clarified that his proposal does not entail the formation of a military alliance or the adoption of a unified foreign policy by Islamic states.

Permanent conflict-prevention mechanism

He added that his second proposal concerns the establishment of a permanent mediation and conflict-prevention mechanism within the Muslim world. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), he added, should possess the capability to intervene before disputes escalate into war, rather than merely issuing press releases after thousands of lives have been lost.222222_13.jpg

Invest in the Muslim world

Concurrently, Pezeshkian presented his third proposal, which envisions the "transformation of the Muslim world from a collection of isolated markets into a network of genuine cooperation." Within such an environment, he emphasized, Muslim scientists will be able to collaborate on joint projects across diverse sectors, while investments originating from Islamic nations will be directed toward development and technology within the Muslim world itself. The Iranian president stated that the economic scale of Muslim countries remains small relative to their population and geostrategic position in the world, calling for greater cooperation in the economic sphere. As he noted, the 57 member states of the OIC, spanning from Southeast Asia to Africa, occupy "the heart of vital maritime and land routes, possess energy resources, youthful populations, and a vast market." Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the combined economic size of these countries in 2024 amounted to approximately $9.2 trillion, accounting for a mere 8.3% of the global economy. The Iranian president further noted that only 19% of member state exports remained within the OIC, with the remainder directed to countries outside the organization, thereby demanding a reinforcement of intra-Muslim trade.333333_15.jpg

"We did not start the war"

Furthermore, the president praised Iran's national unity during the difficult period of the war unleashed by the US and Israel, characterizing it as a "tremendous advantage." As he stated, Iranians rushed to defend their country upon witnessing threats to its existence and territorial integrity. Iran was attacked during a period when it had resumed negotiations with the US, he noted, emphasizing: "We did not start the war, but we resisted fiercely against this assault." "Defending Iran does not signify hostility toward Muslim and neighboring nations. No Muslim country should allow the use of its territory as a launchpad for attacks against another Muslim country, and no Muslim country should pursue its own security at the expense of its neighbor's security," stressed Pezeshkian.5555_3.png

Hamedani (Iranian cleric): They want us weak and divided

For his part, senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Hossein Noori Hamedani stated that Muslim unity has remained fundamental throughout Islamic history, yet its significance is even greater today as the enemies of Islam seek to weaken Muslims, sow discord, and impose their control over Muslim countries. "Today, as the enemies of Islam deploy all their capabilities to weaken Muslims, create divisions, and dominate Islamic countries, this issue has acquired even greater importance," declared Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, adding that "the rational necessity and religious obligation" of unity are more apparent than ever. "The Holy Quran calls upon Muslims to hold firmly to the rope of God and explicitly forbids disputes and divisions that lead to a weakening and loss of their power and prestige," he said. "Approximation and unity do not imply that followers of Islamic schools of thought must abandon their principles and convictions," stated Hamedani, emphasizing: "Scientific differences must remain within the realm of study and research rather than transforming into a means of conflict, hostility, the denunciation of Muslims as infidels, and bloodshed among Muslims."222_47.jpg

The hostility of the US and Israel is not directed solely against Iran

Ayatollah Noori Hamedani stated that the United States and Israel stand at the forefront of those seeking the weakening of Muslim countries. "Today, the enemies of Islam, spearheaded by the United States and the Zionist regime, desire nothing other than the weakness, division, and backwardness of Muslims," he said, stressing that it is "naive" to assume Washington and Israel pursue divergent goals. "It is naive to believe these two powers are independent of one another and pursue separate objectives," said Hamedani, adding: "The experience of recent years has clearly demonstrated that their objective is to dominate the region and prevent Islamic countries from becoming strong." He likewise rejected the view that the hostility of the United States and Israel is directed exclusively against Iran. "To consider that their hostility concerns only the Islamic Republic of Iran constitutes an extremely simplistic view," said Hamedani, who urged regional governments to recognize Israel's broader opposition to strong and independent Muslim countries.44443.jpg

The Zionist regime will face trouble

"Regional leaders must be aware that the Zionist regime will encounter trouble with any strong Islamic country wishing to stand on its own feet, live independently, and refuse submission to foreign dominance," he said. "Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is the target of their hostility, and tomorrow any other Islamic country moving toward independence and power could become the target of that exact hostility," added Hamedani, who underscored the necessity for Muslim unity and the cessation of divisions, particularly under current conditions. "Unity and the avoidance of disagreements and divisions have always constituted a rational necessity and a religious obligation, especially under present circumstances," he said. "Any word or action causing Muslims to drift apart undoubtedly serves the desires of the enemies of the Muslim community."23_75.jpg

Pakistan: No message from Trump

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the nature of the visit conducted by the country's army chief to Iran. According to Al Jazeera, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Thursday, that General Asim Munir, chief of the Pakistani army, did not carry new messages from US President Donald Trump to Iran over recent days. His recent visit to Tehran took place within the framework of Islamabad's ongoing efforts to prevent the resumption of war and resolve the crisis. Tahir Andrabi, spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commenting during a press conference on reports claiming General Munir delivered a message to Iranian officials during his recent visit, stated: "These claims are inaccurate, and the visit of the Pakistani army chief took place within the context of Islamabad's mediating role."

Hormuz in focus

He added that the talks held form part of ongoing efforts to terminate the conflict and restart initiatives aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions focused on ending the current deadlock and restarting efforts to restore regional stability and peace. Andrabi stressed that Islamabad, in cooperation with friendly countries, is continuing its mediation efforts between the US and Iran and supports any initiative aimed at achieving peace and finding a just solution to the dispute. The spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that trade between Pakistan and Iran continues and that Islamabad is not obligated to enforce unilateral sanctions against Tehran.

US sanctions are not binding upon us

Furthermore, Andrabi argued that Pakistan does not consider itself bound by US sanctions against Iran. As he stated, Pakistan does not view Washington's unilateral sanctions against Tehran as conforming to international law and believes that issues should be resolved through dialogue.33222222_5.jpg

Ghalibaf (Speaker of Iran's parliament): We are in total economic war, we will defeat the enemy

Iran faces a total economic war, argued Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who expressed his certainty that Iran will emerge victorious over the enemy on this front as well. "Today, under different and decisive conditions, the government must, alongside safeguarding the essence of the Islamic Revolution, prioritize the people's livelihood, purchasing power, youth employment, and economic security, and lighten the burden borne by citizens," said Ghalibaf, emphasizing: "The country is engaged in a total economic war and, by the grace of God, we shall see that the government and the state apparatus—relying on the capabilities of the people, private sector economic factors, and all system institutions—will defeat the enemy on this front as well. The enemy will be thoroughly defeated and, God willing, we will soon witness the devaluation of the enemy's psychological operations in this domain."
