Tragicomedy - While the USA disagrees internally... they announce immediate nuclear tests, Trump calls for a trilateral with Russia, China

Trump (President of the USA): I want a trilateral meeting with Russia, China, and the USA on nuclear weapons

Is it tactics, is it strategy… or is it a tragicomedy?
Incomprehensible are the signals the USA is sending to the world regarding nuclear tests…
Thus, while Trump, the American President, states that nuclear tests will begin very soon… at the same time he demands the convening of a trilateral meeting between the USA, Russia, and China to control nuclear weapons…
At the same time, within the USA, and within his own administration, officials are reacting and trying to convince Trump not to proceed with nuclear tests…
Nevertheless, Trump said, wanting to show that the USA is the number one nuclear nation in the world, that the USA is first, Russia second, and China third nuclear power, but this is wrong…
The biggest nuclear power in the world, with the most and most modern weapons, is Russia.

Very soon

Trump confirmed his intention to resume nuclear tests, which will take place “very soon.”
However, according to CNN, the U.S. Department of Energy is trying to stop the White House from taking this step.
Trump attributes his decision to the actions of other countries: he claims that Russia and China are allegedly testing nuclear weapons, and the American leader calls for a trilateral meeting to reduce these weapons.
However, Russia denies the accusations of nuclear tests.
The U.S. President Trump announced the imminent resumption of nuclear testing.
He made the announcement while speaking to the press on Air Force One en route to Florida.

We will conduct nuclear tests because other countries do

“We will conduct nuclear tests because other countries do.
We have more nuclear weapons than any other country and we must test them,” said the American leader.
Answering a question about the possible timing of the tests, Trump noted that they will happen “very soon.”

Trump (President of the USA): I want a trilateral meeting with Russia, China, and the USA on nuclear weapons

The U.S. President Trump said he would like to hold a trilateral meeting with representatives of Russia and China to discuss reducing the nuclear arsenal.
“I would like to see denuclearization, in other words, a meeting of the three major nuclear powers on reducing nuclear weapons.
We are number one, Russia is number two, China is number three,” Trump said.
At the same time, he stated that the United States will conduct nuclear tests very soon.
In October, Trump ordered the Pentagon to immediately begin nuclear tests, citing the actions of “other nuclear powers.”
The decision followed the announcement by the Russian President about the test of the Burevestnik missile.
According to CNN, senior U.S. energy and nuclear safety officials plan to meet with White House and National Security Council officials in the coming days to prevent the President from resuming nuclear weapons tests.
Earlier, the head of the IAEA revealed the role of the superpowers in nuclear non-proliferation.

Denuclearization is the best solution

At the same time, the U.S. President added that he considers denuclearization “the best solution in the field of arms control” and that for this to happen, a meeting between the USA, Russia, and China must be held.

He gave the order to the Pentagon instead of the Department of Energy

Trump ordered the resumption of nuclear tests in October, citing “the actions of other countries” as the reason.
He noted that he had given the order to the Pentagon, despite the fact that the Department of Energy oversees nuclear weapons and testing in the United States.

Major reactions inside the USA over Trump’s plans

On 14 November, CNN, citing sources, reported that the U.S. Secretary of Energy, the Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Brandon M. Williams, and representatives of the U.S. National Laboratories plan to hold a meeting with White House officials to prevent the Trump administration from resuming nuclear tests.
According to CNN’s sources, “they will be ready to tell the administration that there will be no ‘tests’ involving nuclear explosions,” and they will attempt to pressure the White House to develop a plan that would not include such detonations.
At the same time, the official spokesperson for the Department of Energy, Ben Dietrich, denied the report that his department opposes the tests.
“The Trump administration continues to explore all options as it seeks to expand nuclear testing on equal footing with other countries.”

What do the Russians think about all this?

The American leader explained that he does not want the United States to be “the only country not conducting tests.”
He claimed that Russia and China are allegedly conducting them.
Russia, however, denied these accusations.
“We know for certain that neither Russia nor China is testing nuclear weapons.
And then we have a question: does this decision of the U.S. President to resume America’s own nuclear tests mean that the United States will withdraw from its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and really intends to conduct these nuclear tests?” said the Kremlin spokesperson Peskov.

Russia… clearly will take action

Russian President Putin, for his part, emphasized that Russia will take action if the United States or other parties to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) conduct such tests.
He instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the intelligence services to submit proposals regarding the possible initiation of preparations for the resumption of nuclear tests.
The Russian Minister of Defense, Andrei Belousov, proposed the start of preparations for full-scale tests.
He believes that the actions of Washington clearly indicate an accumulation of U.S. strategic offensive weapons.
He stated that the infrastructure of the Central Test Site in Novaya Zemlya allows for the rapid execution of necessary operations.

What phase are the USA going through now

As CNN notes, the United States is currently testing all components of its nuclear systems except for the nuclear explosive material in the warheads.
The Sandia National Laboratories of the U.S. Department of Energy announced that in August, a non-explosive test of the B61-12 nuclear bomb was conducted at the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada. During the exercise, the bomb, with no warhead, was dropped from an F-35 fighter aircraft.
The tests were carried out jointly with the National Nuclear Security Administration, which extended the lifespan of these bombs by 20 years in 2024.
On 5 November, an Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile was tested in California.
The Pentagon stated that the missile, without a nuclear warhead, was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, toward a target in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
The last full-scale nuclear weapons test in the United States was conducted in 1992.
